Many of us see waterfall, mixed, and drytool climbing as tools to help us in the alpine. This workshop will cover the crossover skills, tactics, and techniques that can speed up our alpine objectives.
We will cover:
-
- – light and fast philosophy and ethic
-
- – minimalism in relation to safety and risk tolerance
-
- – assessing terrain and choosing goals
-
- – movement technique and how it may differ from pure ice technique
-
- – rope configurations
-
- – gear considerations
-
- – pitching, short pitches, simul-climbing, soloing
-
- – fast and minimal anchors, terrain belay, fixed point anchors
- – up and down: remember, you are only half way there at the summit
This clinic will be best for those who have a solid understanding of gear, placement, and are intermediate to advanced climbers.
